Ladies, we once again have the privilege of hosting the Ladies Tea at the 2007 Decatur event. Hopefully, we will have as good a turn out and as much fun as we did last year.

I hope that all of you will make a special effort to attend this event, as the company is co-hosting and we should try to make every effort to help this wonderful event grow.

I will need the assistance of all of you to make this tea a success. If you are planning to be at Decatur this year, and you are interested in helping, please email me.

Past Information

The Decatur event turned out to be a great event this year, and the 4th Alabama’s first hosting of the ladies tea was a success! We stepped in and served refreshments at the dance on Saturday evening as well, and everything went very well. So much so that we have been invited to host the event again next year! Hooray for us!

There were about 25 ladies present for the tea, which was held in the park chapel. Anna Owens gave a wonderful presentation on hat making after all the ladies took a few minutes to introduce themselves, sharing where they were from, what unit they were with and how long they had been reenacting. There were ladies from all over, and reenacting experience from the brand new to those who had been involved in our hobby for many years. Learning about each lady made for a very pleasant morning.

Our refreshments were a big hit as well. My mother made her famous chicken salad sandwiches, as well as home made tea cakes and Jefferson Davis punch, which was a big hit at the dance Saturday night as well as at the tea.

I would like to extend a special thank you to Anna Owens for the wonderful hat making presentation. Francine Owens (thank you also to Francine for putting together the stuff for the presentation!), who was originally planning to give the presentation was unfortunately unable to attend this year, and Anna did a wonderful job of standing in for her. The presentation was very informative, and a number of the ladies who attended were determined to go out and try to make a hat of their own… including me!

I would also like to extend a huge thank you to my mother, Elouise. This was her first ever event to attend and dress out, and she was a huge help to me with planning and serving the refreshments. She now has the reenacting bug, and I am certain that you will all see her with me at future events.

For those of you who were unable to attend this year, hopefully, you’ll be able to attend the next one and make it an even bigger success!

Our next event to plan for is our annual company Christmas party, which will be on Saturday, December 16th. Check back soon for more information on the Christmas party.
